You don't need trading experience to start a career in international trading.

Do you speak German fluently, enjoy talking to people and like working in an environment where things can change quickly? At Hoogwegt in Arnhem, you will learn the international dairy trade from experienced colleagues while taking responsibility from the start.

As a Junior Trader DACH, you work in the Dairy Liquids team, trading products such as cream and milk across Europe. Your main commercial focus will be the German-speaking market.

One day, supply is tight. The next, new volumes suddenly become available somewhere in Europe. Prices move, customers call and opportunities arise quickly. Your job is to understand what is happening, pick up the phone and turn those opportunities into deals.

You will take over an existing customer portfolio while also building new commercial relationships. This means you are not starting with a blank sheet: from the beginning, you will be in contact with real customers and suppliers and gradually take ownership of your own deals.

What will you be doing?

• Buying and selling liquid dairy products such as cream and milk;
• Maintaining frequent contact with customers and suppliers by phone;
• Managing and developing your own customer portfolio;
• Negotiating prices, volumes and commercial conditions;
• Identifying changes in supply and demand and acting on commercial opportunities;
• Building long-term relationships with customers in Germany and other European markets;
• Sharing market information and working closely with the other traders and logistics team;
• Regularly travelling to Germany to meet customers and strengthen relationships.

This is a hands-on commercial role. You do not spend your day analysing the market from a distance: you are part of it. You call, negotiate, make decisions and learn from the result.

Trading experience is not required. Whether you have just graduated or already have your first commercial experience, Hoogwegt will give you the opportunity to develop into an independent international trader.

Hoogwegt is an international trading company and a global leader in dairy and food ingredients. From its office in Arnhem, the company connects suppliers and customers around the world.

You will join the Dairy Liquids team, consisting of around seven traders, supported by a logistics team of four colleagues. It is a fast-moving environment where market conditions can change from one moment to the next.

At the same time, the culture is informal and down-to-earth. Colleagues work towards team targets rather than individual sales targets, share information and help each other close the right deals.
